"hainer, you have balls of steel."

let's ignore the fact the night started out with two [i'd say] 16-17 year old girls who were hammered (or possibly on e) busting into the lounge and asking if we'd make out with them...

on to the important things. lol

EMILY FUCKING HAINES MAN. if i wasn't in love before, i am now. this is the girl i'm gonna marry if ever there were one. fuck. if you've heard metric but not emily's solo stuff, you're so missing out.

the stripped down, straining vocals in combination with a grand piano, string quartet, trumpet, drummer, bassist, and synth. holy shit. it was like a religious experience. i'm so glad it was at the music hall (seated), which has AMAZING acoustics. nothing else would've done the set (or emily) justice. there were tears man, it was just so beautiful.

unfortunately i missed the october show, too slow on gettin tickets -- and thus feeling like a dumbass afterwards. but in any case, i'm not that mad i missed 'see vous play' -- i can't imagine the acoustics in kool haus being all that flattering. i've seen a few vids, and i'm just so glad i made it to the concert hall. man.

"reading in bed" and "nothing and nowhere". i fear i'll never be able to listen to the album versions of these songs ever again. it'll never be the same! lol.

i know i'm bordering on creepy-obsessive here, but fuck man. i'm in love haha.

here's a vid someone shot at the show (January 6, 2007. The Danforth Music Hall. Toronto) of "maid needs a maid", accompanied by some adorable banter with the audience :)

fav em lyric?
"your mouth should be working for me, for free"

fam candid em quote?
"bros before hos yo"

fav quote between me and my friends?
amanda: "yeah, i'd take her home."
me: "man, i'd take her right here."
amanda: "on the sidewalk?"
me: "yeah, i'd even take her in that sketchy alley. it's emily man."

ps- unfortunately the dream sequence never took form :(
maybe next time..
